“Inflation will undoubtedly move forward. It seems that decisions are not being made in the Strait of Hormuz and oil prices remain quite high. Not tragic, but quite high, which exerts some inflationary pressure – both due to fuel prices and energy prices. And, I think, in the fall we will probably exceed six percent inflation. And by the end of the year, we will move towards seven percent. The question is whether we will exceed this number or not,” M. Dubnikovas told 15min.

Similar insights were shared by Aleksandras Izgorodinas, an economist at Citadele Bank. “Inflation definitely has a chance to approach and maybe even slightly exceed six percent due to the very rapid rise in energy prices. On Wednesday, the price of gas in Europe reached 74 euros per megawatt-hour. The last time such a price was seen was at the beginning of 2023, during the height of the Russia-Ukraine conflict,” he said.
