“Boykiy” joined the Russian Baltic Fleet in 2013. This warship is designed for patrol, anti-submarine, and surface warfare missions and is armed with guided missile systems.
In recent years, the ship has often operated near NATO waters and was observed escorting vessels associated with Russia’s “shadow fleet” through the English Channel.

The Ukrainian General Staff later confirmed strikes on ships and infrastructure at the Kronstadt port, reporting preliminary damage to military facilities deployed at this base.

The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) also confirmed a drone attack on military ships deployed at the Kronstadt naval base, stating that damage assessment is ongoing.

This attack was part of a broader nighttime Ukrainian operation against military and industrial targets on Russian territory. According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces also struck the Saint Petersburg oil terminal, the “Progress” defense factory in Russia’s Tambov region, and several military facilities in occupied Crimea and occupied parts of Eastern Ukraine.
