One such couple is singer, member of “Group 2” Donatas Balvočius and long-haul truck driver Greta Bulovaitė.
Greta, who drives a truck on long-haul routes to Scandinavia, reveals that the invitation to participate in “Star Duets” was like a dream come true for her.
“I was driving the truck when I received a call inviting me to participate in the project. I had to stop because I was shocked. Earlier, my mother and I used to watch this musical show, and I told her that I would participate in it someday. So as soon as I got the invitation, I immediately called my mother and said: you have no idea what happened – I was invited to participate,” says G. Bulovaitė.
Both she and D. Balvočius admit that participating in the musical project will also bring certain challenges. For example, it is not usual for Donatas to sing on stage with a woman.
“I have been singing with men for many years. There might be a choir nearby with women, but singing in a duet – that hasn’t happened for a long time. So I asked the show’s creators twice if I would really participate in ‘Star Duets’ with a woman. The most important thing will be not to raise my male ego,” the singer reflects.

Although at first glance it may seem that Greta’s and Donatas’s professions are very different, in fact, there are many similarities. The couple appearing on the “Star Duets” stage admits that both long-haul drivers and musicians spend a large part of their lives traveling in vehicles.
Both participants of the musical project believe that the distance separating them may cause difficulties. Since long-haul driver Greta will spend a lot of time in Scandinavia, Donatas will remain in Lithuania. However, Greta promises to rehearse even in the truck.
“While driving the truck, I sing in it every day. There is at least half an hour out of nine hours of shift when I don’t listen to any music but sing myself. For me, it’s meditation. Time passes faster, I feel better because I release emotions,” the woman reveals.
And if needed, Donatas promises to go to Greta and rehearse abroad.
“What does it mean to go to Norway? If necessary, I will go there, be Greta’s navigator, and we will rehearse together,” the musician laughs.
