“Moreover, large quantities are being produced and sent to the US as needed. Defense companies are building the largest number of factories in our country’s history,” he said.
The Washington Post reported that last Friday, when they attended a cabinet meeting at Camp David residence, D. Trump demanded answers from Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth regarding the ammunition shortage.
D. Trump told P. Hegseth that he believed the ammunition issue “was resolved,” The Washington Post reported, citing two unnamed sources familiar with the conversation.
D. Trump was outraged by media reports and on Thursday threatened that “the leakers of these treasonous statements are being hunted” and “long prison sentences will be sought!”
CNN also reported that the shortage of long-range guided missiles and air defense interceptors affected D. Trump’s strategy in the conflict with Iran, with the US military “having almost used up 80%” of its THAAD interceptor reserves.

The Washington Post also stated that due to this shortage, D. Trump canceled new strikes on Iran, although he had previously threatened to strike the Islamic Republic “very strongly.”
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called the reports about the conversation with P. Hegseth fake news.
“I was at Camp David with President Trump and Secretary Hegseth. It just never happened,” she wrote on the social network X.
Senior Pentagon press officer Sean Parnell stated that reports about D. Trump’s confrontation with P. Hegseth and the weapons shortage are “also fabricated.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry denied that any negotiations with Washington are taking place, although D. Trump claimed that Tehran is very eager for an agreement.
