On August 23, 1989, about two million residents of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia joined hands in a living chain. This peaceful civic action became a symbol of the shared path to freedom.
To commemorate this historic date, a concert is being organized in Kaunas, where Lithuanian stage professionals will join forces.
On August 23 at 4 p.m., singer, composer, and music producer Linas Adomaitis will perform on the roof of the “Science Island” together with the Kaunas Big Band, led by chief conductor Tomas Botyrius. The event will be hosted by Gintaras Mikalauskas.
The concert is part of the program of the 25th international festival “Operetta at Kaunas Castle 2026.”
The audience will enjoy a program specially performed with the Kaunas Big Band by Linas Adomaitis. Well-known songs by the artist such as “Oceans,” “Your Colors,” “I Am Jealous of Myself,” “Have You Seen Her?,” “The World Is Beautiful,” and others will be performed on stage.

Founded in 1991, the Kaunas Big Band is the first professional jazz orchestra in Lithuania. Over more than three decades, it has become an important part of the jazz culture in Kaunas and the country, participated in the largest jazz festivals in Lithuania, collaborated with well-known Lithuanian and foreign artists, and performed in various European countries.
The free concert will take place on August 23 at 4 p.m. on the roof of the “Science Island” on Nemunas Island.
