We sincerely sympathize with the deceased’s family, relatives, and all who knew him.

Many works left on the late Darius’s desk and already reaching the publisher will still reach readers,” the publisher “Žara” announced on its Facebook page.

The loss of D. Alekna was also announced by the chairman of the National Union, Member of Parliament Vytautas Sinica.

“Yesterday passed away one of Lithuania’s brightest intellectuals, a classical studies researcher, translator, and an extremely socially active person, Dr. Darius Alekna,” V. Sinica posted on his Facebook page.

“I knew Darius as not only wise but also highly ironic, self-critical, and witty. These traits usually go together and are signs of a strong personality. His research and translations, I have no doubt, will be the foundation for further studies of ancient times in Lithuania. His wisdom was important to us in the activities of the National Union, although over time one always feels that we listened too little.

Darius cared about Lithuania, but especially about preserving human nature – family, gender, morality, and other related issues. He spoke, wrote, and delved into these topics the most and could not calmly watch the grimaces of the so-called sexual revolution. In some part, the referendum on the concept of family currently being considered in the Seimas is also his creation.

Another creation lies in Lithuanian bookstores: last year, the publishing house I founded published his translation of the French professor Rene Ecochard’s book “Men and Women” about the neurological gender differences established by the latest scientific research. A thin but condensed book, very necessary in a world poisoned by ideologies. It seems to be the last one he managed to translate and publish,” writes V. Sinica.

Where and when can one say goodbye?

The deceased will be laid out on Friday, May 29, from 4 p.m. in the funeral hall near the St. Peter and Paul Church.
