T. Fox’s journey began with a simple, yet extraordinary idea – to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. His initiative soon turned into a massive movement and one of the most powerful stories of human determination and hope.
This is what inspired B. Adams to write a new song.
„The Ballad of Terry Fox“ appears at a time when T. Fox’s story is being rediscovered by younger generations. According to the creators, the song is not only a tribute to the Canadian hero but also a reminder of the power of hope, perseverance, and the belief that one person can change the world.
„Terry was only a year older than me“
B. Adams recalls watching T. Fox’s journey when he was just 20.
„I remember Terry’s run in 1980, when I myself was traveling across Canada and performing in clubs holding about 200 people. I was 20 years old, and Terry, it seemed, was only a year older than me,“ the musician recounts.
On September 1, 1980, T. Fox was forced to stop near Thunder Bay when his journey was cut short due to illness. At that time, B. Adams was in Ottawa, giving a speech, and T. Fox’s story was one of the main media topics.
„Looking back, it was a pivotal time for Canada, not long after the Quebec referendum. Without realizing it, Terry gave a then somewhat divided country something and something everyone could agree on,“ says B. Adams.
The singer also states that he is very pleased to have been able to contribute to director Sean Menard’s film about T. Fox.

„I am especially proud of Terry and the legacy he left behind,“ he says.
The song was accompanied by a music video
Along with the new song, its official music video was released, directed by S. Menard – the director and creator of the documentary „Run Terry Run“.
In the music video, B. Adams’ music intertwines with the story of T. Fox’s „Marathon of Hope“, revealing the spirit of a journey that remains significant even after more than four decades.
The song also features in S. Menard’s new full-length documentary „Run Terry Run“. The film tells the story of T. Fox and his historic journey across Canada. The film uses previously unreleased archival material, offering a closer look at his life, journey, and extraordinary determination.
The documentary is scheduled to premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival.
