These individuals died last year in an avalanche near the border with China.
The accident occurred in November 2025, when the avalanche struck climbers on the slopes of the 5,630-meter-high Jalung Ri summit, located near the Nepal-Tibet border.

“All five bodies were brought back this morning by helicopter by our rescue team,” said Phurba Tenzing Sherpa, director of the expedition company Dreamers Destination, to the news agency AFP.
According to him, among the deceased were citizens of Italy and Canada, a German, and an Italian. The remains of all five climbers, including two non-Nepalese, were spotted on Saturday.
P. T. Sherpa indicated that his team, together with other expedition companies, conducted searches in the area after the avalanche took the climbers.
“Due to deep snow, the bodies could not be found, so the search was postponed (…) This time the bodies were found because the snow melted,” he added.

Senior local police officer Manoj Kumar Lama said the remains will be brought to Kathmandu as soon as weather conditions allow.
In Nepal, where eight of the world’s ten highest mountains stand, including Everest, thousands of climbers and hikers arrive every year.
According to the expedition archive Himalayan Database, more than 1,000 people have died in the mountains since 1950, and nearly a third of them due to avalanches.
