Earlier in August, a group of settlers began blocking supplies to Palestinian homes on the outskirts of a village near Nablus. Residents were trapped inside, and this action received unusually harsh criticism from the US ambassador.

After several weeks, Israeli forces are still conducting operations in this area, while settlers continue to roam the surrounding hills.

On Saturday, residents of Kusra and the military reported that dozens of settlers descended into the village. They threw stones at the residents and barricaded themselves in a house where Palestinians were present at the time.

In the nearby village of Jalud, as reported by NBC News, masked settlers attacked and injured members of their journalist team and a Palestinian whom they had come to interview.

“I strongly condemn the criminal acts of violence committed in the villages of Kusra and Jalud. These were carried out by a handful of rioters who break the law, cause great harm to the law-abiding Jewish community, hinder the Israeli Defense Forces from carrying out their missions, and damage Israel’s reputation worldwide,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

President Isaac Herzog also condemned the attack in Kusra, and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs called this violence “shameful.”

Kusra resident Yussef Abdula Kareem Hassan told AFP news agency that on Saturday several villagers were working near a house when a small group of settlers approached them.

According to him, the settlers called for reinforcements and returned with dozens of others. They surrounded the Palestinians inside the house and began throwing stones.

AFP footage from Kusra shows that dozens of Israeli forces soldiers were deployed to the scene on Saturday.
