China’s national meteorological center reported that the typhoon is expected to make landfall on Sunday morning on the coast of Guangdong province between Shenzhen and Haifeng.

Chinese meteorologists issued a red typhoon alert on Saturday evening – the highest in the country’s four-tier system.
According to the meteorological center, heavy rains are expected from Saturday night to Sunday night in some areas of Guangdong and the neighboring provinces of Hunan, Fujian, and Jiangxi.
It is predicted that when the typhoon makes landfall, its maximum sustained wind speed will reach 151–173 kilometers per hour.

More than 340,000 people have been evacuated in Guangdong province, Xinhua news agency reported.
The agency added that “learning, work, production, business, and transport” activities have been fully or partially suspended in twelve cities in the province, including Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Shantou.
State broadcaster CCTV reported that all train traffic in the province would be suspended on Sunday and warned of a high risk of disasters.
