The Lithuanian retail chain “Maxima” reminds in a press release that, after clarifying the specific need, support can also be supplemented with new everyday items.

Head of media relations Ernesta Vareikytė notes that summer is a good time to review the accumulated items for little ones at home and think about who they could be useful to.
“Children grow very fast, so families are left with many outgrown used clothes, cribs, strollers, or other tidy items. Instead of keeping them, they can be passed on to those for whom such help is currently important. To contribute additionally, it is first worth contacting the chosen organization and clarifying what it needs most – diapers, wet wipes, baby and infant food, milk formulas, or similar,” says E. Vareikytė.
Community support creates a calmer tomorrow
The head of the Crisis Pregnancy Center, Zita Tomilinienė, explains that women and families facing unplanned or crisis pregnancies, postpartum depression, miscarriage, newborn loss, severe emotions after pregnancy termination, or infertility challenges turn to the organization. Depending on the individual situation, they are provided with emotional, psychological, social, material, and financial assistance.

“We see how painfully women experience loneliness when the husband or partner does not want to hear anything about the child or when relatives push them away because of the pregnancy. At such times, it is very important to fully support the woman and show that she is not alone. More than 900 children have already been born to women who turned to our center when the trials during pregnancy seemed unbearable,” she says.
If material assistance is needed, the center provides families with strollers, cribs, carriers, diapers, and other essential baby care items as much as possible. Some of these are donated to the organization by residents sharing items their children have outgrown but are still suitable for use.

Everyday items are most needed
According to Z. Tomilinienė, the center sometimes receives more baby clothes than it has space to store. Much more often, diapers, milk formulas, baby food, body care, and women’s hygiene products are needed.
“We invite donations of tidy strollers, cribs, rocking chairs, carriers, diapers, and baby body care products. However, it is better not to donate food products, milk formulas nearing expiration, opened diaper packages, or medications. It is always worth asking what is most needed before bringing support,” emphasizes the center’s head.
Gift cards from stores or pharmacies are also useful, allowing the purchase of food, medicines, or baby care items according to the specific needs of the mother and child. Such help is especially important for young women, single mothers, or those who do not receive maternity benefits due to insufficient work experience.

E. Vareikytė adds that the most important part of help is not its size but attention to the real needs of another person. “Sharing can start with a simple decision to review what we no longer need ourselves and think about who could benefit from these items. When help is provided responsibly and purposefully, even a small gesture can become significant support for a family going through a difficult time,” she says.
The Crisis Pregnancy Center also invites people to become its supporters and contribute periodic donations starting from 10 euros per month. More information – www.krizinionestumocentras.lt or by phone +370 603 57 912.
