On Sunday, during a meeting with journalists, R. Kurtinaitis emphasized the strength of the Bosnians, which became evident in the match against the Italians:
“They are very strong under the basket, recovering as many as 18 balls on offense. They are physically stronger, so we might have problems too.”
“But we know how important this game is – we will go to fight,” the coach added.
R. Kurtinaitis also had to answer about the game against Turkey. He insisted that the team played according to its capabilities.
“We don’t have much time, we need to set clear accents. When you have leaders, NBA players, it’s much easier, they understand everything immediately. I don’t want to complain – we work with what we have. I have no complaints about the players – that was our strength.”
“The Turks are a good team, one of the dominant ones in the world. The game with the Bosnians will be different.”
When asked how he feels about the loss in Turkey, R. Kurtinaitis got upset:
“How do you feel when someone dies? You don’t feel good. Such questions are funny to me. Let’s talk about basketball, not about how I feel. My whole life has been about winning, so I feel bad about losing. I feel bad, like all Lithuanian people. We want to win.”
