According to officials, 781 deaths have been confirmed after a wall of water, mud, and debris swept through the region on Wednesday, flooding entire villages.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott told the television program “This Week” that nine Americans were evacuated, and he has no data on any U.S. citizen casualties.

“Due to the remoteness of the area, it is difficult to obtain reliable information. However, our dedication and commitments remain,” said T. Pigott.
