“Armenians must be very careful not to, God forbid, repeat what happened in Ukraine (…) Everything in Ukraine started exactly like that. You remember it. So that they, the Armenians, having just come out of one war, do not end up in a difficult situation. There is no need to rush. You just need to think, you need to be wise people,” he said.

V. Putin earlier this week stated that Armenia could face a “Ukraine scenario” due to its eurointegration ambitions, saying that Russia’s conflict with Ukraine began because of the latter’s desire to join the European Union (EU).

Next Sunday, elections will be held in Armenia, which will be a test for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who seeks ties with both Russia and the West.

Earlier this month, a European summit was held in Armenia, and the EU welcomed strong progress in relations.

Public opinion polls show that most Armenians support integration into the EU, while support for Russia has sharply declined. However, many are skeptical about the reality of joining the Union, fearing further provocations from Moscow.
