Wendy Gledhill told TMZ that her 44-year-old son Michael Gledhill suffered from serious mental health problems. It turns out he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was becoming increasingly paranoid.

After the diagnosis in July 2025, Michael was prescribed medication. However, it is shocking that Wendy recently learned that about a week before police found her beloved James Handy fatally stabbed near her home, her son had stopped taking his medication.
According to Wendy, Michael and James did not always get along, but their relationship was generally friendly and correct.
Barely holding back tears, Wendy sent a message to James’s family: “They know how much I loved him. I am incredibly sorry. So sorry this happened. I am still in shock. I still can’t comprehend what happened.”
At the time, neighbors said Michael sometimes acted very strangely, nypost.com writes.
“He looked very neglected… it seemed like he hardly changed his clothes,” neighbor Joheina Quibol told “The Post”.

She also recalled a strange incident when Michael had come to her father and inquired about cameras in the house. According to J. Quibol, Michael seemed “paranoid.” She also thought he might have mental health problems.
Žmonės.lt reminds that James Handy died from stab wounds to the chest. The suspect himself – the actor’s beloved’s son – called the police.
The police report states: “On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at approximately 9:30 AM, West Valley district patrols were dispatched to a call regarding an incident in the 19200 block of Erwin Street. The person who called 911 stated: “I am the man’s son, I just killed the man of sin.” Arriving officers found 81-year-old James Handy unconscious in the front yard of the house, with stab wounds to the chest. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead. Officers arriving at the scene were met by the suspect, who confessed to being the person they were looking for. The suspect lived in the same residence with his mother, who was the actor’s girlfriend.”
The 44-year-old suspect, Michael Gledhill, was arrested and incarcerated at Van Nuys Jail. He was charged with murder, and bail was set at 2 million US dollars.
