„The Presidency is a complex of buildings in the Old Town of Vilnius and everyone can talk to it, but it is difficult to assess how much benefit there is from it,“ F. Jansonas told BNS.
This was his reaction to M. Balčiūnas’s statement on Facebook, where the latter said he had spoken with the Presidency after President Gitanas Nausėda’s criticism of the men’s team play and heard wishes for the greatest success.
„In the President’s opinion, success is not what Lithuanian basketball needs today or ever. What is needed is not success, but responsibility and an objective view of the situation,“ said F. Jansonas.
„The President expressed his opinion in an interview with BNS and it is as it is and as most Lithuanian basketball fans have today,“ he noted.

G. Nausėda said earlier in an interview with BNS that the team’s failures show that „the system does not work,“ and regarding the responsibility of specific individuals, a „very open conversation“ is needed.
According to the president, the results of the men’s basketball team do not meet expectations because the team „was too strong to lose.“
This is what the head of state said after the Lithuanian men’s basketball team lost to Italy at the beginning of July, thus complicating the chance to qualify for next year’s World Championship.
