This is one of the UEFA committees contributing to the shaping of European football policy and providing recommendations to the UEFA Executive Committee.
The UEFA media committee mainly focuses on issues related to football media and communication: organizing media work at UEFA events, cooperation with media organizations, accreditation processes, UEFA publications, public relations, and other challenges currently faced by football media.
“In the current situation, where there are many communication issues in world football, there is certainly much to share in terms of insights; all committee members are connected to the media in one way or another. We have representatives from different federations, many different examples, experiences can be shared, and later these recommendations reach the UEFA Executive Committee.
Such meetings and the choice to hold them in Lithuania, Kaunas, demonstrate UEFA’s trust in us as a small federation that works purposefully and strives to achieve its set goals. We are very grateful to UEFA for their trust and for granting such events to Lithuania,” said LFF president Edgaras Stankevičius.
There are 19 permanent committees within UEFA’s structure, covering various areas of European football. The committees analyze current issues, provide proposals and recommendations to the UEFA Executive Committee.
Lithuania’s role in the UEFA media committee
There is also an important Lithuanian accent in this UEFA committee – the general secretary of the Lithuanian Football Federation, Rita Bagdonienė, is a member of the UEFA media committee and serves as the second vice-chairperson. Meanwhile, the committee is chaired by the president of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka.
“This event is important for Lithuania because once again we step onto the international stage, show our good relationship with UEFA, and the fact that LFF was entrusted to organize such an event is very important to us,” emphasized R. Bagdonienė.
The tradition of UEFA meetings in Lithuania continues
This meeting continues the recent trend of international UEFA events in Lithuania. A year ago, Lithuania also hosted a UEFA “HatTrick” committee meeting, which gathered high-ranking representatives from UEFA and national football associations.

The significance of this was also highlighted by E. Stankevičius.
“UEFA sees and appreciates our preparation, the attention given to every visiting delegate, and this pays off, as practically every year international events come to Lithuania,” added the LFF leader.
The UEFA media committee is chaired by the president of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka. He also visited here last year as a member of the UEFA “HatTrick” committee.
“First of all, it is very nice to return to Lithuania after almost a year’s break. The fact that this meeting is organized in Lithuania demonstrates that the federation’s work is truly well regarded.
We believe it is right to organize these meetings in different countries because UEFA belongs to all 55 member countries. Close dialogue with all members helps better understand their problems and essential current issues.
Kaunas is a great place for this meeting, so I sincerely want to thank LFF president Edgaras Stankevičius and general secretary Rita Bagdonienė for the very warm welcome in Kaunas,” said A. Duka.
The work of UEFA committees is an important part of the organization’s governance – their members represent different UEFA members and contribute their expert experience to the formation of European football decisions and recommendations.
