A host of famous faces at the vibrantly colored 'For Equality' march in Vilnius

The main highlight of the “Lithuanian Pride” festival was Saturday’s march “For Equality!”. Participants gathered from 12 p.m. at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania and at 3 p.m. began marching along Gediminas Avenue towards Kalnai Park. This year’s march message is “All families in Lithuania are important”.

Support for the LGBT+ community was also expressed by a group of well-known people – politicians, public figures, entertainment stars.

Among this year’s march participants were Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas with his wife, opera soloist Vismante Benkunskiene, Vilnius Vice-Mayor Vytautas Mitalas, Freedom Party member Tomas Vytautas Raskevičius, Independence Act signatory, actress and politician Nijolė Oželytė, influencer Naglis Bierancas, and others.

“Today Vilnius sends a clear message: every person has the right to love freely,” V. Benkunskas wrote on Facebook.

After the march, a free open-air festival concert is held in Kalnai Park, organized in cooperation with the “Music Awards of the Year” (M.A.M.A.) association. Lithuanian and foreign artists perform on stage: Spanish “Eurovision” stars “Nebulossa”, Lithuania’s representative in this year’s “Eurovision” contest Lion Ceccah, French artist Savanah, Sandra Carrillo, and drag culture performers LaDiva Live and Catherine d’Oex. The Rainbow Awards ceremony also takes place during the event.
