This year, about twenty thousand people in Lithuania and abroad wrote the dictation. 100 participants who best completed the first stage
were invited to the final, and traditionally, winners were selected in three
categories – the most literate student, the most literate adult, and
the most literate Lithuanian abroad.

“As the world becomes faster, the National Dictation invites
us to stop. For one hour, thousands of people in Lithuania and beyond do
the same – listen, think, and write in Lithuanian. This is not just a test of
literacy. It is a reminder that language is one of our strongest bonds.
Therefore, today we congratulate not only the winners, but also everyone who
chose to be part of this community,” says Vytautė Šmaižytė-Kuliešienė, organizer of the National Dictation.
This year’s National Dictation final text “Medallions of Memory”
was created by Agnė Žagrakalytė.
The National Dictation has been organized since 2006. Over sixteen years, the initiative has become the largest civic action uniting the Lithuanian language, annually gathering tens of thousands of participants in Lithuania and worldwide.
The National Dictation is organized by the Public Institution Institute of Civic Thought.
