“After the loss in Italy, there were many struggles and emotions. Responsibility for the team’s losses primarily falls on the coaches, and I myself am used to setting high standards for myself. Nevertheless, I see strong support from the basketball community, I feel a great obligation to Lithuanian basketball, so I decided to continue my work,” R. Kurtinaitis is quoted in the association’s statement.

The Lithuanian national team will start the second qualifying round of the 2027 World Championship on August 28 in Istanbul against Turkish basketball players, and on August 31 in Vilnius, they will host the Bosnia and Herzegovina team.
