Minister of Environment Kastytis Žuromskas was pleased that there are scientists in Lithuania who carry out significant public activities in environmental protection, fostering the ideas and works of geographer and signatory of the Act of March 11, Č. Kudaba.

„This year’s laureate, landscape geographer G. Godienė, has dedicated many years to topics of landscape, geodiversity, natural framework, urban ecology, and the implementation of the European Landscape Convention. Congratulations!“ the minister was quoted in the statement.

The laureate said that Č. Kudaba is a great authority and teacher for her.

„The professor, who used to drive me as a child with my mother to Šilutė by car across all of Lithuania, was later my lecturer at the VU Faculty of Nature for only a good year. Thank you for all efforts to protect and properly manage the landscape,“ said G. Godienė.

Since 2017, she has been a research fellow at the Department of Geography and Land Management of the Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences at Vilnius University (VU), a lecturer since 2019, and will hold the position of associate professor from September 2025.
