“According to currently available information,” four people died in a plane crash in Medulin, Croatia’s northwestern Istrian peninsula, police said in a statement.

The accident occurred outside the city, and all emergency services are working at the scene, it added.
The National Firefighters’ Association reported that on Thursday morning, at 11:19 local time (12:19 Lithuanian time), they received a report about the crash near Medulin sports airfield.
Seven firefighters with three fire trucks, three ambulance crews, a helicopter emergency medical team, and police were dispatched to the scene, the association announced on Facebook.

Local media, showing images of the crash site in an uninhabited area near the airfield, reported that two more people were still being sought.
According to state broadcaster HRT, a small German-registered aircraft that took off from Austria and was flying to Medulin crashed.
More details and information about the accident are expected later on Thursday, when investigators from the national Air, Sea and Rail Accident Investigation Agency (AIN) arrive.
