Latvia issued a 1 billion euro sustainable government bond issue

More than 70 investors, mostly asset managers from European countries, invested in the bonds, and the total investor demand exceeded 2.4 billion euros.

The main distribution banks for the issue were BNP Paribas and Credit Agricole CIB.

The bonds were issued for the second time to support Latvia’s sustainable development under the Sustainable Bond Issuance Framework, which once again confirms the country’s commitment to further achieving climate neutrality by 2050 and transitioning to a sustainable and socially inclusive economy.

The State Treasury reports that the Sustainable Bond Issuance Framework established in 2021 enabled Latvia to issue sustainable bonds in international capital markets for the first time in history in December of the same year, when six-year bonds worth 600 million euros were issued.
