V. Zelensky spoke about his favorite Hollywood actors and movies in an interview with CBS News, an excerpt of which was published on Instagram.

The journalist asked the president if he generally finds time for movies and if he watches them in English.
“Yes, I watch serious films – you know, the old classics that I already know. Robert De Niro stars in all of them. I adore Robert De Niro,” said V. Zelensky.
The Ukrainian president also mentioned Al Pacino and his role in the movie “The Godfather,” as well as Robin Williams and his films.
“And generally all American films, because before becoming president I watched all historical films. Now I don’t have much time. So I can watch films whose plot I already know. It’s easier to understand certain words that way – even if you don’t know a word, you still know the story,” explained the Ukrainian president.

During the interview, V. Zelensky also showed the “Oscar” statuette that was gifted to him by American actor Sean Penn.

The president said he keeps the statuette in the Presidential Office and intends to return it to the actor one day.
“I adore Sean Penn. He gave me this ‘Oscar.’ It was his award for his role in the movie ‘Mystic River.’ It was a wonderful film. I really like such films,” said V. Zelensky.
He recalled that at first he did not want to accept such a gift.
“He gave me the ‘Oscar,’ and I told him: ‘No, I can’t accept such a gift!’ Then he replied: ‘Give it back to me when you win the war.’ So, we will return it to him,” said the Ukrainian president.
S. Penn handed over his “Oscar” statuette to V. Zelensky in November 2022 – it was considered a symbol of his support for Ukraine and belief in its victory. The actor has visited Ukraine several times.
This year, S. Penn won an “Oscar” for Best Supporting Actor but did not appear at the awards ceremony – he was in Ukraine at the time.
