It cannot be said that Prague was completely spared. There were a few occasions. One of them happened in 1945, when the Americans, due to bad weather conditions, confused Prague with Dresden and bombed residential areas. What a tragic mistake… But let’s get back to the historical buildings.

The city allocated a lot of funds for building restoration. The view after World War II was definitely not what it is now. I have a photo book in which the same buildings are photographed before and after restoration. Some might even think the city is too polished, but as far as architecture is concerned, there is no kitsch.

Some complain that there are a lot of tourists here.
Efforts were made to restore the buildings according to old drawings and historians’ interpretations and to paint them in a way that emphasizes the beauty of stuccoes and frescoes. This is exactly why Prague is unique. I have been here more than once and would gladly return again.
