“Whatever Laura’s decision about her political future, I hope there will be no hard feelings,” he added.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius said he would make efforts to keep Laura Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė, who is considering leaving the Social Democrats, working with them. However, after the politician herself expressed grievances about being removed from the chairmanship of the Seimas Youth and Sports Affairs Committee and accused M. Sinkevičius of deceiving her, the LSDP leader also took a jab at her, reminding of her recent divorce.
M. Sinkevičius recalled that the decision for the parliamentarian to no longer lead the committee was made at the party presidium meeting held in mid-July.
The Social Democrats’ leader said he would still try to convince L. Asadauskaitė to remain among the Social Democrats, but also spoke about possible divorce, comparing it to the parliamentarian’s personal situation: it was announced in May that she and her former spouse, pentathlete Andrejus Zadneprovskis, had gone their separate ways.
“I am determined to make efforts for Asadauskaitė to remain a member of our community, to work in the faction. If she decides otherwise, of course, it is her will.

L. Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė told the portal lrytas that these publicly spoken words by the Prime Minister deeply offended and humiliated her.
The politician also stated in July that she felt deceived by the new Social Democrats leader and Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius when she lost her position as chairwoman of the Seimas Youth and Sports Affairs Committee after changes in the ruling coalition.
