– Saulius and Alisson simply decided not to participate in the „Grand Prix“ stages this season. That is their decision, which we respect.”

„They have long-term injuries that have not yet healed, so they do not want to rush, so they do not miss more important starts later,“ continued V. Jasutis.
– I myself was close all last season and saw everything. I asked them, how do you endure so much? Can you bear it? They are no longer 20 years old… So this decision (not to skate in the „Grand Prix“ stages) is very natural.”

According to the LCF leader, S. Ambrulevičius and A. Reed will be seen this season as well: „Currently, the plan is that they will be at the most important competitions – Lithuanian, European, and World Championships. As always.”
„Of course, we will see how it goes, because sometimes you heal one injury, and another appears… Last season was really very difficult for them both psychologically and physically,“ noted V. Jasutis.
Since 2017, the 34-year-old S. Ambrulevičius and 32-year-old A. Reed, who skate together, are preparing a new program for this season.

„Yes, they are not standing still. Their preparation started right after the last World Championship ended (in March, – ed.).
That’s the other side of figure skating – one competition ends, preparation for the next begins. No vacations. They rested for a couple of weeks and that’s it. The work continues,” said V. Jasutis.

We remind that the confusion about S. Ambrulevičius and A. Reed’s participation in this season’s competitions was caused by their messages released at the same time.
„We decided together that we will not participate in this season’s „Grand Prix“ stages. We will use that time to let our bodies recover, heal old injuries, and restore ourselves,“ wrote S. Ambrulevičius on Facebook.
„We took a break, after which Saulius and I decided what future awaits us. We made a joint decision not to participate in the „Grand Prix“ stages this season,“ added A. Reed.
The couple, who debuted at the Milan-Cortina Olympics earlier this year, took a high 6th place.

They were seventh at the World Championships held a month later.
The year before last, the ice dance couple won bronze at the European Figure Skating Championships held in Kaunas.

After this achievement, the Presidency exceptionally granted Lithuanian citizenship to American A. Reed, so the couple could participate in the Olympics.
In the middle of this summer, S. Ambrulevičius proposed to his chosen one Alli.
A. Reed and S. Ambrulevičius are a couple only on the ice. In their personal lives, they nurture romantic relationships with other partners.
Rarely publicizing her personal life, A. Reed is also engaged and showed her chosen one Andrew after the Olympic Games.
