The piece “In the Little House by the Road” radiates peace, coziness, and closeness. This mood of the song is also reflected in the presented music video, which carries the long-standing, recognizable creative style of A. Makejevas. The singer explains that although he is more often labeled as the rough “Daddy,” his portfolio is actually full of emotional works.
“I have always created lyrical songs, maybe not everyone notices them, but everyone knows them. Starting from the very beginning of my career, from songs like ‘You and I (That Long Road…)’, ‘Quietly Sweetly’, even ‘Save Yourself’. There is a lot of lyricism everywhere, but what do people usually remember? – ‘Daddy’. That’s why this image of me arises, that I am the guy who locks everyone in the sauna,” jokes A. Makejevas.
Like much of the artist’s work, this single is full of philosophical reflections on life. It is a song about surviving hardships and freeing oneself from past misfortunes. In the piece, A. Makejevas tells a story about seeking and finding warmth, the joy of being together, and simple moments that gain meaning when a loved one is nearby.
“Well, we are all in a little house by the road, just in different lives. That’s how it is, we all have our little houses, whatever they may be, whether imagined or real. The little house by the road is a metaphor for having to endure all kinds of difficulties, but still feeling that joy in the end. Even when we are at the very bottom, there is a chance to rise and fly towards the sun,” explains the musician.
This meaningful lyrical plot required a corresponding visual solution. Although at first A. Makejevas did not plan to create a music video, the joint work with the team led to unexpected creative decisions. According to the singer, he had to pose, crawl, and even run while holding a sickle.
“I didn’t want to make the video myself, but it happened that I met young artists, Simas Kavaliauskas and Silvija Koreivaitė, who encouraged me to create it. Still, an album without a promotional video is not an album. Filming it was hard: they pushed me, put me in all sorts of poses, I had to walk, run, crawl, and even run with a sickle. They probably enjoyed chasing Daddy through all the varieties of nature. In a word, it is the harmony of music and visuals. Everything lies in simplicity,” reveals A. Makejevas.

Although the new music video required physical effort, the result made it all worthwhile. The artist does not hide his sincere joy seeing how his work affects listeners, and the connection with the audience remains strong despite the passing years.
“I’m happy when people write messages that it’s good to listen to and so on. Usually, people find in my songs what I myself don’t even notice. I’m still very glad that I can write such songs. Certainly, more than one generation of fans has changed, but they still remember and sing my old songs. I’m very happy that many young people come to concerts, it’s fantastic. The appreciation of creativity is the greatest joy,” the singer confides.
During the music video presentation, the artist also shared future plans. Currently, A. Makejevas is finishing a new studio album, which listeners will hear on music platforms this October. For the new work, the artist chose an unusual title in the Georgian language – a playful creative prank encouraging listeners to explore its hidden meaning.

“The album will soon be on all platforms, and later it will also be available on vinyl. I uploaded the song ‘In the Little House by the Road’ to all platforms, and the video is currently only on YouTube. Then we’ll see, maybe it will be possible to release it elsewhere as well. While waiting for the album, I invite you to hear the songs live on September 11, 12, 17, and 18 at concerts all over Lithuania,” invites A. Makejevas.
