„We are looking for all possible alternatives. Apart from (…) the company’s (ESO – BNS) funds, it should be a comprehensive solution, as it is related to our country’s competitiveness,“ said T. Valys on Friday after the meeting of President Gitanas Nausėda with ministers and institution representatives.
„We will continue the dialogue, we will see, and at the moment we are looking for all possible alternatives so that the impact through the tariff is smaller,“ he added.
According to the minister, the correction of electricity tariffs is the “last scenario.” He did not rule out that EU support could be requested under the measure for natural disaster consequences.
As BNS wrote, the ministry announced on Thursday that the financial impact on the company ESO will be about 18 million euros, but this amount will still be specified as damage assessment and network restoration works are still ongoing.
For customers who did not have electricity for more than 72 hours, the amount of automatically calculated compensations, according to the latest data, will be about 6 million euros, the amount of direct loss compensations paid by ESO – about 2 million euros, and the network restoration costs – about 10 million euros.

The chairman of the State Energy Regulatory Council (VERT), Renatas Pocius, told BNS that if ESO finances the network restoration costs, the electricity tariff for consumers would be increased only if no other sources of funds are found.
According to him, ESO will cover only compensations to consumers from its profit, and funding for network restoration should be sought from the EU or the state budget. According to him, the company is capable of compensating losses to affected people.
BNS wrote that after the August 22 storm, electricity supply was disrupted for more than 268 thousand consumers. On Friday, about 2.5 thousand consumers still do not have electricity.
