The album was released by the British and American music publishing company “Decca.” It was recorded together with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and features 12 compositions by A. Hopkins.

Well-known musicians also participated in the recording – Argentine pianist Sergio Tempo and Venezuelan cellist Gregorio Neto. The orchestra was conducted by Grammy and BRIT award winner Gustavo Dudamel.
The album’s compositions cover different periods of A. Hopkins’ life. They reflect the 1940s, the actor’s childhood in a small Welsh town, and Welsh folklore. Some pieces are dedicated to his wife Stella and niece Tara.
Critics highlighted lightness, harmony, and subtle nostalgia in the album’s works. Melodies from the 1940s and 1960s intertwine here with contemporary rhythms.
A. Hopkins has been creating music all his life.
“Music was my first love, my first desire. Some of these melodies have lived inside me for decades, and I keep returning to them,” said the actor.

88-year-old A. Hopkins is a theater, film, and television actor. He has won two Oscars – for the role of Hannibal Lecter in “The Silence of the Lambs” (1991) and for his role in the psychological drama “The Father” (2020).
Throughout his career, the actor has also received more than 50 significant awards from the US, the UK, and international organizations. In 1993, for his contributions to theater arts, A. Hopkins was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.
“Life Is A Dream” is A. Hopkins’ first album in which his own music is performed by a professional orchestra and soloists.
