When asked by journalists on Thursday about the recent fires in Poland, W. Kosiniak-Kamysz replied: “Elections will be held in Russia in the coming days, so there may be escalation in various places before them.”

Recently, fires broke out at two industrial sites in Poland: one in the town of Skarżysko-Kamienna in the central part of the country, at a factory owned by the private defense company WB Group, and the other in a production and storage building in the eastern city of Lublin, owned by the aviation components manufacturer JFG Composites.
“Public resilience, raising awareness, and sharing information are now very important for all of us,” said W. Kosiniak-Kamysz.
“We must remain strong as a society. Naturally, the coordination of these efforts falls to the uniformed services and, to some extent, the armed forces. There is comprehensive integration, information sharing, and cooperation here, including with our allies. The coming weeks and months will certainly be difficult,” added the defense minister.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Wednesday that he was convinced the fire in Skarżysko-Kamienna was an act of sabotage.
He added that although there is no evidence of deliberate actions in Lublin, “given the nature of the production, arson there cannot be ruled out either.”
Elections to the lower house of the Russian parliament – the State Duma – are scheduled for September 18–20.
