“In the past two years, we have had, apparently, 20 or 30 incidents with drones. Initially, they did not contain explosives. About a month ago, there was another one with explosives, which fortunately did not detonate,” said the country’s leader.
N. Danas emphasized that what Russia is doing on the other bank of the Danube River is becoming a threat to Romanian citizens.
“When the Russians strike cities on the other side of the Danube, they must be sure not to harm Romanian citizens,” said the president.
In a conversation with journalists, the country’s leader stated that although the Russian consulate was already closed due to the attack, the government does not rule out the possibility of expelling the Russian ambassador if new drone incidents occur.

On the social network “X,” N. Danas shared the results of a technical report about a drone that crashed in Galați on Friday night. He indicated that it was a Russian drone “Geran-2” (the Russian analogue of “Shahed 136”).

“Romania will neither ignore nor belittle any incident that threatens the lives of its citizens, national security, or the sovereignty of the Romanian state,” emphasized the Romanian president.
Soon after the incident, N. Danas stated that “appropriate measures will be taken.” He also convened a National Security Council meeting to discuss countermeasures. According to him, Romania is a NATO member and will by no means allow the war started by Russia against Ukraine to be transferred to its territory.
