These solutions are part of a broader redevelopment of the central part of Gargždai. The area is planned to renew the market space, create new public spaces and pedestrian connections, improve transportation, and create conditions for further city center development.
“Major city changes begin long before construction equipment appears in the area. Our job is to ensure that the necessary land management and property procedures are carried out accurately, transparently, and in compliance with legal acts. Equally important is that the process is clear to property owners and their rights are properly ensured. Only then can the planned city changes proceed smoothly,” says Gintautas Vasiliauskas, Director of the Land Management and Geodesy Department at ŽŪDC.
At the beginning of 2026, the Municipality announced that 16 garages still need to be acquired in the center of Gargždai for the city center redevelopment. According to the city center redevelopment plans, a new street with 64 parking spaces is planned in their area, which should help solve transportation and parking issues and ensure more convenient access to the redeveloped public spaces and the future market area.
