Polish officials stated that there are currently no signs that his death could be related to the actions of third parties, but a thorough investigation will be conducted.
Piotr Antoni Skiba, a representative of the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office, said that officials have been checking Vlasenka’s apartment in the Mokotów district since 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
“The autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon,” Skiba said, adding that toxicological tests will also be carried out. Medical documents of the man were found in the apartment.
Who was Vlasenka?
Little is publicly known about S. Vlasenka. It is believed that he was 71 years old at the time of his death.
According to the independent Russian media channel SOTA, S. Vlasenka worked as a local deputy in the Russian Far East in the 1980s and later moved to the Black Sea resort town of Anapa.
After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, he joined the new Russian People’s Deputies Congress – a political group made up of former Russian politicians who consider themselves a potential Russian government in exile.
S. Vlasenka was publicly accused of spreading false information about the Russian military. SOTA and other publications reported that he later left Russia for Poland on a tourist visa and was later granted political asylum.
The Congress was founded by former Russian State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev, who lives in Ukraine. The Russian authorities declared the organization “undesirable,” effectively banning its activities in the country.
