On August 15, hundreds of people gathered for the consecration ceremony of a 55.6 m tall statue. During the event, helicopters scattered tiny red roses over the crowd, priests dressed in white garments celebrated Holy Mass, and a folklore ensemble performed traditional Polish pieces.

The statue of the Virgin Mary standing on the pedestal now rises above the village of Konotop, which has only 120 residents. It is claimed to be the tallest statue of the Virgin Mary in Europe.
