At St. Roch Hospital – an incredible conflict, at its epicenter – a drunken department head

Last Monday, an incident occurred at Vilnius St. Roch Hospital. The police went to the nursing and palliative care hospital twice. The first time, due to a conflict, the second – to check whether the medic was intoxicated during work hours.

The officers determined a severe level of intoxication for the doctor, head of the Long-Term Care Department, Jurgita Kateivienė. The medic blew – 2.56 per mille.

The situation is truly tragic and there are no excuses for it. Sad.

That such an incident really happened was confirmed by the capital’s police representatives to LRT.lt.

The Vilnius County Chief Commissariat informed: “On August 10 at 10:51 a.m., a report was received that a conflict was occurring at Vilnius, St. Roch Hospital between the reporter (born 1985) and hospital medics regarding documents that needed to be issued to a person. Later, at about 11:36 a.m., another report was received that a medical worker might be intoxicated at work in the hospital. Officers determined a 2.56 per mille intoxication level for the medic (born 1977).”

Indrė Juzėnaitė – Karneckienė, head of the St. Roch Nursing Clinic, detailed to LRT.lt that severe intoxication at the workplace was determined for the head of the Long-Term Care Department, doctor Jurgita Kateivienė.

“Before this incident, nothing similar had happened with this doctor. The situation is truly tragic and there are no excuses for it. It is sad that it happened this way.”
