Germany’s reaction appeared as a response to the statement made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on August 14. He announced that Russia will “significantly strengthen its methods” to destroy everything that the West allegedly uses to fuel Kyiv’s “war machine.” S. Lavrov accused Brussels of pursuing a dangerous policy regarding Russia’s “shadow fleet” ships.

Against the backdrop of these statements, Germany has increased its focus on military aid shipments to Ukraine’s security. Security measures also include the German government’s decision to no longer provide information about specific shipments, their timing, volumes, or the amounts of military aid supplied to Ukraine.

Incident with explosives at a German airport

The statements came after an incident at Leipzig airport, where a drone with explosives was detected in the cargo terminal’s security zone. Several Ukrainian cargo planes were parked nearby. This airport is used for forwarding military aid to Ukraine. Among the considered versions is Russian involvement. It was mentioned that the DNA traces found may have been previously recorded in events related to Lithuania.
