As reported by the news portal alfa.lt, the night before the accident, the woman was drinking alcohol at home with a friend – she drank about five glasses of champagne until four in the morning. Shortly after, a conflict arose between them, due to which G. Smičiūtė could not fall asleep and went to the pharmacy and the store.
Feeling unwell, dizzy, and weak on the way, she decided to return home and decided to cover the remaining 800 meters by renting a „Bolt Drive“ car.
According to the portal, the accident itself happened due to inattention: while driving, a handbag slipped from the passenger seat and the phone rang. Leaning to pick them up, the woman took her eyes off the road, lost control of the car, hit the curb, and overturned.

On Wednesday, the Vilnius City District Court closed this case: the woman partly managed to get away, as she was exempted from criminal liability and handed over to her friend’s custody. However, she will feel the consequences – her driving license was revoked for 2 years and 3 months, and the court ordered her to recover the amount of 8 thousand euros.
We remind you that information about this incident came to light a week ago. According to police data, on May 30, 2026, at about 7 a.m. in Vilnius, L. Sapiegos Street, a woman born in 1991 was driving a „Toyota Yaris“ when she was found to have a blood alcohol content of 1.80 per mille.
