After US warnings – new Ukrainian attack in Novorossiysk

“Last night our Ukrainian defense forces carried out a unique operation, striking the naval base in Novorossiysk – the last main Russian navy foothold in the Black Sea, more than 300 kilometers from the front line.

Our rocket drones “Palianycia,” “Neptun” missiles, and unmanned maritime systems accurately struck designated targets. Confirmed hits on air defense positions, docks, and maritime port infrastructure,” reads the Ukrainian president’s Telegram channel.

He thanked the Ukrainian armed forces soldiers, the Ukrainian security service, and intelligence for their accuracy and good results.

“The occupying fleet and all supporting infrastructure will not be safe as long as Russian aggression continues. The war must be stopped, and all adequate diplomatic proposals are being considered. Glory to Ukraine!” said V. Zelensky.

What the US asked for

15min reminds that on July 31, during a phone call, J.D. Vance asked Ukrainian President V. Zelensky to stop attacks on oil tankers near the port of Novorossiysk. Since then, Ukrainian forces have not struck tankers near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal, which is in the port of Novorossiysk.

“Washington was concerned that Ukraine continued to destabilize oil markets and harm American companies by striking tankers transporting oil via pipelines from Kazakhstan to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal in Russia’s Novorossiysk port,” the article notes.

Officials said Ukraine then agreed not to target the Caspian Pipeline Consortium infrastructure or vessels not belonging to Russia, as long as these vessels are not on Ukraine’s sanctions list and do not carry Russian oil or other Russian cargo, reported the Financial Times.
