On the social network Instagram, Evelina recalled that everything happened while her son was receiving a massage at the educational institution. Completely unexpectedly, the course of events took a tragic turn due to boiling water left in the room and the behavior of another child.

“Kristupėlis was at the educational institution, on the massage table, being massaged by a masseur, and there was a kettle boiling nearby… Something that definitely shouldn’t have been there. And just then a very aggressive child ran up, took it, and poured it on him,” shared E. Laucė with painful experience.
The hardest thing for the woman is to understand what her son felt at that moment, because due to his disability he could not understand what was happening.
“You can explain to an ordinary child what happened here. But a child who doesn’t understand, he just lay there and caught fire (meaning an internal feeling, – editor’s note). He started to blaze and didn’t even know when it would all end… Eventually, he was taken away by an ambulance with resuscitation equipment, not a regular ambulance,” recalled the opinion leader.
Fight for her son
Upon arrival at Santariškės Clinics, it became clear that the burns were very serious. The child’s thighs, neck, abdomen, and legs were burned – about 10 percent of the body. According to the mother, the first week was critical and very difficult because the burns deepened for a long time. The child suffered immense pain, had to be bandaged and even tied to the bed because, frightened and not understanding the situation, he was constantly restless.
“After a week in intensive care and being on morphine, he finally had his first surgery to remove dead skin. Then his body temperature dropped and we were transferred to the ward, where we lived for half the summer. It was like this: daily dressing changes under anesthesia, then a skin graft surgery taken from his legs,” Evelina recalled the treatment process in detail.
During this painful period, the woman spent half the summer in a hospital room with her son. She tried to relieve physical and emotional fatigue by going for runs early in the morning – leaving at five o’clock before the nurses woke up. The situation was further complicated by ongoing legal proceedings at the same time.

“We went through hell. And all the while there was a court case about child support. It was terrible,” the mother raising sons admitted openly.
Changed attitude towards motherhood
Although a long rehabilitation process followed the accident – constant trips to the hospital, scar softening injections under anesthesia, plastic surgeries, and the child’s huge regression – E. Laucė today looks at everything from a perspective of strength.
“We survived hell, but we survived. That’s probably the most important thing. Just imagine how strong a child he is. I no longer know what can scare us, nothing,” the woman spoke sensitively but firmly.
This shocking experience completely changed Evelina’s attitude towards everyday motherhood problems. The opinion leader did not hide that sometimes she finds it hard to understand parents who panic over trivial matters.
“Imagine what feelings I have when I see those mothers who freak out because their child has a runny nose, is crying, or has to go to kindergarten and some kind of adaptation… I think the current generation and some mothers are so soft. We need a bit more firmness, strength, and, I don’t know, maybe toughness. We can’t become soft because of some trivial things,” E. Laucė expressed her opinion, adding that although she might lose some followers after these words, she firmly knows one thing – after everything her son Kristupas and she herself have been through, they are a true force.
