“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania is aware of the information published in the media. We are currently seeking official information about the sentencing of a Lithuanian citizen in Kaliningrad through diplomatic channels,” the comment provided to BNS on Thursday states.
According to the Russian independent news site “Mediazona,” a sentence of 13 years and six months was given to Aleksandr Poliačkov.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs could not confirm this information to BNS.
The press service of the Kaliningrad court that issued the sentence stated that A. Poliačkov allegedly collected and transmitted “information constituting a state secret” from 2011 to 2024, which “could be used” against Russian security.
The statement also says that when sentencing, the court took into account that the man suffers from serious chronic illnesses. He will be imprisoned in a maximum-security colony.
“Mediazona” reports that the prosecution stated the man is 48 years old and lived in the Guryevsky district.

The news site reported as early as August 2024 that A. Poliačkov was arrested on espionage charges.
One of A. Poliačkov’s former classmates confirmed to “Mediazona” that the man moved from Lithuania to Kaliningrad. Another friend said he knew A. Poliačkov 10–12 years ago. According to him, at that time A. Poliačkov “pretended to be a major businessman,” and his wife owned a furniture store in Kaliningrad.
It is stated that A. Poliačkov has served as the general director of the company “Amberus” since 2014. The company’s activities are related to gemstone processing and jewelry manufacturing.
