The long-distance runner represented Brazil in 2021 at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
In 2022, he broke the American continents marathon record, completing the 44 km 195 m distance in 2 hours 4 minutes 51 seconds – no runner born outside Africa had run that fast before.
In 2022, D.Nascimento took 8th place at the World Championship, running the marathon, and in the same year led the famous New York Marathon until halfway through the distance when he needed medical assistance.
In 2024, doping was found in the Brazilian’s body – three different banned substances, and last year he was given a five-year disqualification.
Recently he was wanted, missing due to “personal problems,” – so wrote “ESPN Brasil”.
D.Nascimento disappeared from his mother’s home on June 19. Since then, none of his relatives knew where he was. The runner’s mother turned to the police for help and made a public appeal to find her son.

Finally, the 28-year-old man was found in São Paulo, where a passerby recognized the runner on the street and informed the police.
The arriving officers confirmed that the long-sought D.Nascimento was found.
According to the police, D.Nascimento is healthy and alive. He was taken to the nearest police station, where he met with his mother and other relatives who had been looking for him in São Paulo and around this Brazilian metropolis for several weeks.
D.Nascimento, after the doping disqualification and missing out on the Paris Olympic Games, had admitted that he has psychological problems.
“He only has me and close ones. We just want him to be found,” – the runner’s mother was quoted by “Globo” earlier last week.
