This sensitive story of a family from Ukmergė history came into the spotlight when their youngest daughter died on Sunday at Kaunas clinics, and unaware of this, child rights defenders made the decision to take all the children from the family.
Lina Baranauskienė, a representative of the State Child Rights Protection and Adoption Service, admitted to 15min that specialists did not know about the girl’s death before making the decision: “we received this information only after the decision was made.”
Ieva Jankauskienė, a spokesperson for Kaunas clinics, admitted to 15min that child rights defenders were not informed about the infant’s death and emphasized that “the medical team made every possible effort to save the girl’s life.”

The girl’s father spoke out
A man introducing himself as Mintautas revealed to 15min that the child was born with congenital health disorders, but the family did not immediately seek medical help.
