Apple’s dominance in the top five

10 months after its debut, this phone, which costs about 703 euros new, retained as much as 99% of its original value in the secondary market – it is now resold for an average of 696 euros.
In second place was a compact model with an A19 Pro processor and 12 GB of RAM. This flagship practically does not depreciate: its initial price was 967 euros, and by mid-summer, it retained 98.7% of its value and is resold for approximately 955 euros.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max took third place with a 98.73% indicator. A used 256 GB version is now valued at approximately 1032 euros, while a new device cost 1055 euros. Last autumn, this model was completely sold out in many countries immediately after pre-orders.
Fourth in the ranking is the cheaper iPhone 17e, which after 4 months retained 96.66% of its original price. Officially priced at 527 euros, it is now sold on platforms for 510 euros. It attracts buyers with its fast A19 chip and artificial intelligence features.
The only Android representative
The Samsung Galaxy S26 became the only representative of the Android ecosystem in the top five, retaining about 88.9% of its value.
A used 256 GB version without carrier restrictions now costs about 704 euros, while the price of a new device started from 791 euros.

The authors of the study note that the ranking is based on the prices of unlocked phones in good condition in the secondary market.
Their observations show that Apple devices traditionally lose value ten times slower due to constant high demand, guaranteed long-term software support, and stable brand popularity.
Last years for older smartphones
The launch of new iPhones is expected on September 9.
It is reported that Apple plans to break a 15-year tradition and release the iPhone 18 series in two stages.
Premium models (Pro, Pro Max, and a new foldable model) will appear in the autumn of 2026, while the basic iPhone 18 model will reach buyers only in the spring of 2027.
Experts also remind that some currently popular older smartphones are already entering their last years of official support.
Their owners are advised to check how long the device will still receive operating system and security updates, and consider upgrading them to models that retain the best value.
