The far-right blogger reminded the Ukrainian president of the fierce argument with D. Trump and his vice president J.D. Vance that took place in the Oval Office in 2025.
At that time, the US Vice President urged to give a chance to D. Trump’s diplomatic efforts to end the war, while V. Zelensky stated that diplomacy with Russia had not yielded results since 2014. Among other things, the Ukrainian leader was criticized for his attire and alleged ingratitude towards allies.
L. Loomer asked the president what had changed since then, as it now appears that relations between the leaders of both countries have improved.
“Certainly. The first turning point occurred in Rome, in the Vatican. It was a brief meeting, but I always said that, in my opinion, it was a historic moment, because in 15–20 minutes we changed our relationship,” V. Zelensky said.
He recounted that during the meeting, there was no one else present except the two of them. However, the Ukrainian leader refused to disclose the details of their conversation, stating that only a trust-based dialogue between leaders matters.
“I was very pleased to hear him, he listened to me, and I also listened to him. There was something like ‘we won’t go back to that’ between us, but it was very good. Many lives depend on relationships and dialogue,” V. Zelensky noted.

L. Loomer herself, who visited Kyiv this week, interviewed the Ukrainian president and said that “there were no forbidden topics” and she did not hesitate to ask questions.

According to the Ukrainian broadcaster “Suspilne”, V. Zelensky will travel to the United States next week, where he plans to meet with D. Trump. According to sources, V. Zelensky’s trip to the United States is scheduled for July 28. During the visit, the Ukrainian president is expected to attend the funeral of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, as well as hold a personal meeting with D. Trump.
Recently, the US leader made a new statement about when the war in Ukraine might end. According to him, he constantly repeats the same thing to Vladimir Putin: it’s time to end the war.
“I keep telling him the same thing all the time. I don’t want to go into details, but I say: ‘Vladimir, it’s time for you to stop. It’s time to end this war,’” D. Trump said.
This week, hope was rekindled that peace talks between Russia and Ukraine might resume. Earlier in the week, V. Zelensky met with US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio held brief talks with Russian diplomatic chief Sergey Lavrov in the Philippines.
