You will meet few compatriots here. This is not Tenerife, where you can greet every second person in Lithuanian or Russian. By the way, there are no Russians either. Since the island is not large, the whole of it can be driven around in 2–3 days.
Although the island is very close to the African coast, the African mentality – “trick the tourist and get extra karma points” – is not felt.

The island is also special because it has no trees like other islands, only those planted by people. Therefore, the landscape reminds many of another planet. Black lava fields, volcanoes, and sparse bushes.
But don’t rush to write off this place. In fact, not everything is so black; there are also white sand beaches. You will definitely have wonderful photos and impressions.
Few people know that the island as we see it now is practically the merit of one person – Cesar Manrique. But more on that later, I want to intrigue you.
