Passengers could not follow the match and know its progress, so they became alert when an announcement came from the cockpit.
Some passengers grabbed their phones and started filming reactions as the pilot announced the news:
“The match was very even until the end, extra time was needed. Both teams gave their all. Unfortunately, only one team can win the World Cup final. We want to congratulate our friends from Argentina.”
Cheers of joy immediately erupted on the plane. Passengers rejoiced, some started singing.
Most of the passengers were Argentinians, some of them wearing the national team’s kit.
But their euphoria quickly ended. An awkward silence fell when the Spanish pilot spoke again:
“Spain won.”
