This program, which is a response to China’s visa-free regime applied to Russians, was supposed to end on September 14 after a one-year trial period.
By V. Putin’s decree, the new expiration date for the visa-free regime is set to December 31, 2027. This step reflects Beijing’s decision in May to extend the visa-free regime for holders of Russian passports.
Visa-free to Russia for 30 days
Under this measure, holders of Chinese passports can enter Russia without a visa for up to 30 days for tourism or work purposes, reports “The Moscow Times”.

Besides the extended program, group tours between Russia and China can already travel visa-free, and Beijing allows Russians traveling in transit to stay up to 10 days without a visa.
Relations between Russia and China have strengthened after the large-scale invasion of Ukraine. Since 2022, V. Putin visits China annually as his country faces Western diplomatic isolation.
