French basketball news portal “BeBasket” journalist Gabriel-Ponte Jouve reports that due to ASVEL’s troubles, many of the Old Continent’s giants have shown interest in the services of 28-year-old S. Francisco.

One of the teams showing the most interest is Athens’ “Panathinaikos”.
According to the journalist, S. Francisco’s chance to move to the NBA is over. The guard himself is in no hurry to make a decision and has given the Villeurbanne club time to resolve financial issues so that it meets all conditions.

It was previously reported that the ASVEL club, which planned a much larger budget, enticed S. Francisco with a salary of about 3–4 million euros per season.
However, the French media giant “L’Equipe” reported last week that ASVEL ultimately provided guarantees only for a 24 million euro budget, not the promised 59 million euros.
This amount is only five million more than the team’s budget last year (18.7 million euros).

As “L’Equipe” reports, half of the large budget for the next season was supposed to be secured by investors from Asia, but they have not yet provided the necessary guarantees.

It was also previously written that the ASVEL club expects investments from the former “Los Angeles Lakers” owner Buss family, but they have started to hesitate – looking into possible projects in London or Manchester.
We remind you that last season ASVEL finished last in the EuroLeague, but this summer they have already introduced impressive newcomers – S. Francisco, Nick Weiler-Babb, Armoni Brooks.
The team’s head coach is to become the legendary Tony Parker, who is also the president of the ASVEL club.
