“We are taking over the strait. They have nothing. They have nothing,” said the American president in an interview on the show “Fox and Friends,” where he also complained about the tactics of the Iranian negotiators and claimed that they are trying to change what was agreed “yesterday” during negotiations that lasted more than an hour.
D. Trump also stated that the United States will be paid for protecting the Strait of Hormuz.
“We will become the guardians of the strait,” said D. Trump on the “Fox News” show and added that the United States has been protecting the strait “for free” so far, but now wealthy countries will reimburse them for the costs.
“It cannot be expected that we will do this for free, as we have done for many years. You know, we have been protecting this strait for 50 years and have never received any compensation for it,” emphasized the US leader.
D. Trump claimed that the US will protect the strait and “will get a lot of money for it.” He said he wants compensation for “the fact that we do all this, putting our people in danger.”
Moreover, the US president spoke about the destruction of most of Iran’s weapons and air defense systems. He also noted that there was an agreement between Washington and Tehran, which the Iranians allegedly did not adhere to.

“They always violate it. We made 10 agreements with these people. So we will just hit them very hard,” said D. Trump.
On the night of July 12, Iran announced a complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz after, according to Tehran, several ships tried to sail an unauthorized route.
